Sleepy Valentine Giraffe hat


Here is another hat pattern! With Valentines around the corner I decided make something different & unique with my original hat pattern Hooking Rainbows Ear Flap hat

Hook Size J-6.00 mm
Worsted weight yarn
Needle to weave in ends

Abbreviations:
Ch-Chain

Foundation-
Chain 2. 6 Sc in the second chain from the hook.  Join-(sl st)-Use a Marker pin to show where each round starts, pull loose string to tighten the circle.

Alternative Foundation-
Chain 4. 3 SC in the back loops staring in the second Chain from the hook. On the opposite side 3 SC in the front loops. Join-(sl st in the 4th chain)-Use a Marker pin to show where each round starts.

Giraffe Ears(Make two)-
0-3 months (New born)-
Start with one of the foundations above.
Round 1: 2 SC into each of the 6 sc (skip original foundation sl st & don’t join end of round (sl st).

Small Child-
Start with one of the foundations above.
Round 1: 2 SC into each of the 6 sc (skip original foundation sl st & Don’t join end of round (sl st).
Round 2: 1 SC into in each of the next SC, 2 sc into the next SC *Repeat until marker pin
Round 3: 1 SC into each of the next 2 SC, 2 sc into the next SC*Repeat until marker pin
Round 4: 1 SC into each of the next 3 SC, 2 sc into the next SC*Repeat until marker pin
Round 5: 1 SC into each of the next 4 SC, 2 sc into the next SC*Repeat until marker pin
Round 6: 1 SC into each of the next 5 SC, 2 sc into the next SC*Repeat until marker pin
Round 7: 1 SC into each of the next 6 SC, 2 sc into the next SC*Repeat until marker pin

Round 11: sl st into each of the next 3 SC, SC into each of the next 5 sc, sl st into each of the next 3 SC,  Cut string long enough to weave in ends.

Round 12+: Start SC on the 5 SC from Round 11 (SC in the next 5 SC, Chain 1 & turn *Repeat until desired length usually to cover the foundation of the hat) Finish off and leave a long string to weave.

Fold & sew on the hat.

*Heart*-Make 2
Foundation-
Chain 2. 7 Sc in the second chain from the hook.  Join-(sl st)-Use a Marker pin to show where each round starts, pull loose string to tighten the circle.

Round 1:5 SC in the 1st st, Sl st in the next two st, 1 Tr in the next st, Sl st in the next two st,  5 SC in the last st. Sl st in the foundation sl st.
